asalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah, may the peace and Mercy of God be upon you,
Many people come to members of the Muslim community looking for help. Some are trying to figure out where to begin in learning what Islam is all about. Others are new to Islam or are recommitting to their practice of Islam. This page is designed to give some common guidance to people who are trying to learn more about Islam and guidance to those who are coming back to their practice of Islam.
A great place to start this journey is to recount some of the words that God, the Most High, shared with our beloved prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him:
“When my servant takes one step towards Me, I take ten steps towards him. When my servant comes walking towards me, I come running towards him.”
The seeker: A seeker
1. Begin to develop and appreciation and understanding of who Muhammad was, may peace and blessings be upon him. Once you understand the prophet, then everything else will fall into place in regard to practice and belief.
2. If you are sincere in your search for God you are probably already pleading to God for guidance. In Surah al Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Qur’an) God taught us the supplication “Guide us to the straight path.” This verse is recited at minimum 17 times per day
Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried?
Ankabut vs. 2
The newly practicing Muslim:
1. Develop your love for Rasulullah saw.
2. Remember God throughout your day. Each night write down 5 mercies that occurred. Idnetify 5 bad things that could have easily happened but didn’t. Thank God for each.
3. Establish your salaah.
